Adair was appointed as Party Wall surveyor for the adjoining property of a three storey property which forms part of the shopping parade fronting Epsom High Street. The project involved the sub-division of flats on the first and second floors above the ground floor retail units. The project also involved two bedroom flats on a new third floor.
The works, which fall under the scope of the Party Wall Act, involved cutting away walls from the party wall and cutting into the party wall to insert steel beams to support the roof above. Consideration was also required to ensure adequate weathering to the party wall when exposed to re-profile the roof. Adair also liaised with the main contractor to address various Health & Safety concerns and sought to work with the building owner to resolve the matters in a reasonable, equitable manner.
